I am not an network expert but had the CAM working in minutes as well, following their suggested firmware update.Reiterating the previous reviews, I also agree the password scheme is unnecessarily complicated, but not such a problem in the long run. I also think installing the software is a waste. I avoided it. I just configured it directly after connecting to my network. I actually have it connected to a wireless adapter... because my router is located in a different room. Works perfectly. Cam to wireless adapter (WGE111) to wireless router to internet. I check it from my office and utilizing the image capture feature for uploading to an FTP server, I check the image from my cell phone when a computer isn't easily accessible. I am pleased, especially given the price.The performance in brightly lit areas is good. In very low light, the 6 IR LEDs aren't sufficient illuminiation. I supplement it with a cheap IR LED light and it works well enough. It beats paying 4x more for similar cams.
